HOW IMPORTANT IS PUBLIC SPEAKING PROWESS WHEN CHOOSING A CANDIDATE?

What does it really matter if a person of great authority can give a well polished and well timed answer, sermon or speech?

(I'm not saying good communicative skills aren't important but is it THE MOST IMPORTANT THING? Should it be the main method by which we decide where to cast our vote?)

Honestly, I'd prefer someone who can fulfill their position well but lacks oratory prowess over someone who is a real master of the craft but lacks compassion, wisdom, good leadership sensibility and a track record of doing so.

When The Church at Jerusalem were told to nominate 7 men to oversee the daily feeding of the widows, this was the criteria for their election... "Choose men of GOOD REPUTATION, FULL OF WISDOM and THE HOLY SPIRIT." The art of public-speaking didn't make the list.

Public-speaking proficiency is needed, but should take a back seat to wisdom, yieldedness, light and love. Who cares if you can't publicly speak... Moses was a stutter and actually had a Priest (Aaron) talk to the people for him, Paul was accused of being ineloquent and long winded, but that never stopped God from giving them great stewardship & authority in the Kingdom.

These debates, though entertaining can never be the primary platform by which we make our voting decisions. If you truly want to make an informed decision... go do some of your own research on the candidates and find out who they really are and what they really stand for.

Every tree must be judged by the fruit that that tree produces. Has the fruit (the byproduct of their actions) lined up with what they have said in the past, and was the fruit good? Examine that and you'll find your answer.
